Texas Immigration Law Council Receives Texas Bar Foundation Grant to Expand Immigrant Justice Across Rural Texas

Award Will Strengthen Legal Infrastructure and Partnerships Serving Low-Income Immigrants in the Panhandle, South Plains, and Laredo

Austin – The Texas Immigration Law Council (TXILC) is pleased to announce it has received a grant from the Texas Bar Foundation for Immigrant Justice Across Rural Texas. The grant will be used to expand access to justice for rural low-income immigrants by strengthening legal infrastructure and partnerships across the Panhandle, South Plains, and Laredo.

Rural immigrants in Texas face some of the most significant barriers to legal services in the state—long distances from legal aid offices, limited Spanish-language resources, and few local organizations equipped to help. Through this grant, TXILC will work to close those gaps by deepening relationships with community partners, expanding legal service capacity, and ensuring that immigrants across some of Texas’s most underserved regions have meaningful access to the legal system.

“We are grateful to the Texas Bar Foundation for investing in immigrant communities that are too often overlooked,” said Anne Chandler, Executive Director of the Texas Immigration Law Council. “This grant reflects a shared commitment to the principle that access to justice should not depend on where you live. We look forward to building the infrastructure and partnerships that will make that a reality across rural Texas.”

Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $30 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation’s largest charitably-funded bar foundation.
